Here are some of the comments we have received from guests who attended our 1st Annual Nurses Appreciation Brunch.
I really liked everything about the event – the food which was very good, the makeup and hair, the photos with friends, the complimentary admission to Van Dusen Gardens on a beautiful warm sunny day (we took advantage for that). And the champagne was abundant, we really liked that! My friends and I enjoyed feeling special with all those things, but also to be acknowledged as nurses.
Nurses don’t get acknowledged much.
I really thought the speeches were well chosen too – the long history of nursing and the heart tugging story of a new nurse. Very well done!

It was such a different scene to be “cared” for instead of giving care. The special little touches like the champagne cocktail, the music, the photographs, the plants on the table, the tablecloths and so on added so much to the atmosphere. It gave the impression that the nurse was special and appreciated. I loved the recognizing of the former nurses because so often the retired nurse is dismissed. It underlined that once a nurse always a nurse. It even hinted at that nurses are born to be.
Many of my nurse friends expressed an enthusiastic interest in this event. Could it be tweeked to be an annual fundraiser?
